Get To Know The 14 Small Updates That Can Give A New Look To Your Kitchen
Do you feel uninspired every time you walk into your kitchen? It might be time for some updates, but not the expensive kind!
Below are fourteen of our favorite little updates that will breathe new life into your kitchen and take the headache out of a major renovation.
There are times when you want to completely revamp your kitchen space, but what if you could make a big impact without a big investment? We want to encourage you to skip remodeling for now and try a few small updates that make a big difference.
Here are these little updates that make a big impact in your kitchen:
1. Add a fresh color to your cabinets
Sometimes a different color makes a big difference in kitchens and that’s why we usually recommend adding a fresh color to existing cabinets. This is not a difficult job, and although it may take an entire weekend, the cost is minimal.
2. Make a cup holder tree
Create your own little coffee or tea corner with a unique cup holder tree. This tree is easy to make, or you can buy one, and you’ll always have a mug hanging which isready to use.
3. Add a rug
We know that rugs are normally a terrible idea in kitchens, due to spills and clutter. However, a small round rug, or another rug of your choice, will give you a soft place to put your feet while you bring food to your family.
4. Buy a pizza stand
Take your pizza nights to the next level with a pizza stand in the middle of your table. Most stands hold two pizzas, so you’ll never have to get up to grab more for others before you finish your first slice.
5. Build a Taco Stand
Everyone loves tacos, but we don’t know anyone who likes trying to hold that shell while they fill it with goodies.
A taco stand will give you a place to put your tacos as they fill up, so you don’t have more ingredients on your plate than in your taco.
6. Make some DIY pantry bins.
Yes, you can randomly put boxes in your pantry, but think how beautiful it will look if you take the time to create some DIY pantry bins. Glass or plastic jars are best, and you can label each one with what’s inside.
7. Add a storage cart
If you’re short on storage space inside your kitchen, you may want to add a storage cart to your space.
You can build one to suit your exact needs, or you can buy a small cart that you can use to hide as many small appliances as possible.
8. Use a copper pipe for paper towels
If you’ve been meaning to buy a paper towel holder for a while and haven’t, you may want to grab some copper tubing instead. This copper tube/pipe is perfect for sliding your paper towel roll and will add some visual appeal under your cabinets.
9. Create an herb garden
You can go to the store whenever you want to use fresh herbs, or you can grow your own inside an herb garden in your kitchen. The garden will not only look pretty, it will add wonderful scents to this room in your home.
10. Make cork placemats
We all love to put down cloth placemats when we eat, but who loves to clean them all the time? Cork placemats are the answer we’ve all been looking for, because they’re easy on the eyes and easy to clean after every meal.
11. Use letters to create signs for your walls
The walls are full of words in kitchens all over the world now and while you can buy all kinds of signs, you can also create your own.
Simply buy individual letters, or make them yourself from zinc, and create the words you like best.
12. Add Subway Tiles for Your Backsplash
If you don’t have a backsplash, or are tired of the tiles you have, buy some inexpensive subway tiles and put them in your kitchen.
The change will be immediately noticeable and we guarantee that you will love the new look.
13. Add a mobile island
You may not be able to have an island in the middle of your kitchen all the time, but you should be able to fit a mobile island in a corner.
Then all you need to do is take it out when you need it and you’ll have the extra space you’ve always wanted.
14. Create an appliance garage
You may not have another space to put your coffee maker or other small appliances when you’re not using them, but that doesn’t mean you have to stare at them all day.
We recommend creating a garage of appliances to hide them behind, so that you can take them out when you most want to use them.
These fourteen little upgrades will make you love your kitchen even more, and you won’t need to do any major upgrades to achieve any of them! Instead, you can spend a little time and money to finally have the kitchen of your dreams!
